for Wordpress is LONG overdue. For the past few years I’ve been developing websites, and have gained experience with all sorts of e-Commerce solutions. I’ve also read numerous articles and forum posts about over-complicated e-Commerce solutions. Every e-Commerce solution available is either too complicated for people use, costs too much per month to operate, and/or looks poorly designed, compared to larger e-Commerce websites.

As a web designer, I’ve also struggled over the past few months with trying to find an e-Commerce solution that I wanted to work with. I researched all kinds of solutions and nothing seemed to be right for me (I’m very particular when it comes to web design!).

I looked at Yahoo! Stores to run my e-Commerce website, but wasn’t willing to pay $20.00+ per month to have a mediocre e-Commerce website.

I researched OS Commerce but realized that I’d be deciphering code for weeks before I could manipulate the website to look and function the way I wanted. And if I didn’t want to do this for myself, I can only imagine what a non web designer might think! Don’t get me wrong: I’d gladly set up an OS Commerce website for someone else who wanted to pay for it.

About two years ago I started expanding my web design skills to develop for Wordpress. And after getting under the hood of Wordpress I realized that there is an extremely powerful foundation for a possible e-Commerce solution. I loved Wordpress because it simplified owning a website, so that anyone could set one up in just a few hours, without any coding knowledge. I started searching for e-Commerce solutions for Wordpress through various themes and plugins, and I thought I found the perfect solution.

WP e-Commerce is a plugin that is supposed to turn any Wordpress website into an e-Commerce solution. I added it to my Wordpress test website and began messing around with it. I found that even WP e-Commerce was difficult to set up and navigate. I thought I might be alone on this so I entered the WP e-Commerce support forum and found that many other people were having a lot of trouble with set up and installation of this plugin.

The developers of WP e-Commerce had the right idea. There is some extreme coding and development that went into this great plugin, but like I said before I still felt this was too difficult to use. I also found that many of my Wordpress clients were having trouble installing and using this plugin. In some installations, WP e-Commerce even destroyed their Wordpress websites, and the clients had to install backups of their site.

A few months ago I finally decided to take some action. I was determined to strip the fat from most over-complicated e-Commerce solutions, and make an extremely simple e-Commerce solution that anyone could use. Enter Simple e-Commerce for Wordpress.
